Flare 4 on Vista
By Paul • Oct 17th, 2008 • Category: MadCap Flare, Tips and TricksI upgraded my laptop. Actually I bought a new one, and Flare is SCREAMING!
I set up some tests. I built a 200-page PDF directly from Flare 4 on three different machines. The first box is a WinXP box with 1GB RAM. The PDF took 28 minutes to build.
The second machine is my primary work laptop. This machine is a WinXP box with 2GB RAM. The exact same project built in 16 minutes.
Finally, my new Vista 64-bit with 4GB RAM. The project built in less than 3 minutes!
Yay for my new laptop! The only trouble is that my new laptop is one I purchased for personal use, and for my consulting and training work. It’s not owned by my day-job company, so I technically can’t load my work projects on it. So I’m stuck watching my work projects build for 16 minutes, knowing that my new box can build them in less than 3.
Hey, another excuse to work on my book!
